Dr. Walter Scott Thomas was born on April 2, 1950 to Calvin and Elizabeth Thomas in Baltimore, Maryland. He is married to the former Patricia G. Lyles and he is the father of three lovely children.

Dr. Walter Scott Thomas has served as the pastor of the New Psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland since 1975. Under his leadership, the church body has grown from 200 to more than 5,500 active members. On April 7, 1996, a vision was fulfilled as the New Psalmist family moved into their new edifice, a testimony of God's faithfulness.

Dr. Thomas has developed programs of evangelism, mission and education. Christian education classes that include discipleship training and bible study meet six days a week. The church also operates a fully accredited Christian school. Worship services are held every Wednesday at 12:00pm as well as every Sunday morning at 7:30am, 9:30am and 11:30am. The church also has a national television broadcast, "Empowering Disciples", that can be viewed every Tuesday morning at 7:30am on the Inspirational Network. "Empowering Disciples" can also be viewed locally in Albuquerque, Atlanta, Baltimore, Detroit and Los Angeles. Check you local listings for time and channel.

In addition to providing pastoral leadership to the New Psalmist Baptist Church, Dr. Thomas also serves as the president of the Hampton University Minister's Conference and the Millennium Pastors' Conference. Currently Dr. Thomas has over 16 ministry sons and daughters.
