Inspire Me!
By Pam Best
Imitate those who through faith and patience
inherit what has been promised. Hebrews 6:12
One characteristic of a child is the
inability to wait, a need for instant gratification. People who still have a childish
outlook on prayer find it difficult to wait upon the Lord. Patience and waiting are signs
of a mature relationship with God; they reveal our belief that He is truly trustworthy.
My Interpretation:
I wish these devotions would get off of my
toes! OK..so I repeat...we live in a microwave kind of society. We have these childish
expectations that things should be done when we want them to be and exactly how we want
them. Quick Fast and In A Hurry!!! God promised in the Word that He would never withhold
any good thing from us that is good for us. He answers prayer. But we have to remember
that God answers prayer in the best way possible. He sees the full picture and will give
us what we need. We've got to learn to trust God and His methodology. We think that God is
some kind of vending machine that we put our prayers into, push the button for the desired
outcome and BAM!!! it falls right into our laps. Sorry my friends. That just ain't how it
works. God is our parent. He wants to fulfill our every desire. But He won't do it at the
expense of our well-being and salvation. He knows what is best. He knows WHEN is best. As
we grow in grace and our spirits mature, it should become easier to wait. It should be
almost like anticipation...an eagerness to see how wonderfully God is going to work things
out in that special way that only He can perform. It's time to grow up. It's time to trust
God. He's proven Himself time and time again. Don't insult Him by casting His perfect
record aside. Inspite of what it looks like...BELIEVE.
