Dr.
Romaine Martin Semeah is the second president of the University of Fort Lauderdale. Before
assuming this position she served as director of community affairs for the University of
Miami School of Nursing. Dr. Martin Semeah was the first African-American president of the
Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP), a subsidiary of the National League of
Nursing. While in that position she was responsible for CHAP's accreditation process as
well as addressed issues relating to community health, social services, legislation and
public policy. Dr. Martin Semeah is the
founder of "CHAP on the Hill," a national legislative forum that provided a
venue for home health leaders to communicate concerns regarding laws and policies with
politicians and legislatures. Dr. Martin also served as director for special projects and
special assistant to the chief executive officer of the National League of Nursing.
Romaine Martin Semeah earned a bachelor of science degree
in nursing from New York University, a master of science degree in health administration
from Clayton University in Missouri, a juris doctorate from New England School of Law and
a doctor of ministry degree from the University of Fort Lauderdale.
Dr. Martin Semeah has served on numerous boards, including
Cool School of Dade County, New Dimensions Family Services, the Minority Organ Tissue and
Transplant Education Program, the Community Health Accreditation Program, the Journal of
Cultural Diversity, Minority health Care Providers, and the Home Care Council of New York
City. She has received numerous awards from organization including the Community Health
Accreditation program, the National League for Nursing, the New York State Black Nurses
Association, the Massachusetts Black Judges Award, the Massachusetts Black Attorneys
Award, the Metropolitan Dade County Key to the City and the Massachusetts State Senator
Citation for Leadership. Dr. Martin Semeah is presently completing a publication entitled
"The Advancement of Global Salvation through Educational Philosophies".
Founded in 1995, the University of Fort Lauderdale has been
recognized as the premier Christian based minority institution in the South Florida area.
Holding a culturally diverse student and faculty population, the University houses a
College of Religious Studies and a College of Leadership for the higher education of
student's pursuing competitive leadership positions in areas of ministry, education,
business and social service. |
