Donald D. Harper was elected vice president of
human resources planning development for Goodyear Tires in 1998. He had been named to that
position in 1996 after serving two years as director, human resources for the North
American Tire Strategic Business Unit. He served as director of employee relations for the
Asia region from 1991 to 1993.In 1989, he was
named manager, manufacturing & support training, after serving more than three years
as manager of organization development.
Born in Marion, Ala. on Nov. 27, 1946, Harper joined
Goodyear in 1968 as supervisor production/personnel in the North Chicago hose plant, and
in 1974 he was transferred to the Gadsden, Ala., plant as personnel/industrial engineer.
Harper received his BS degree in business management from
Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Ala., in 1977, and he was promoted to
manager, employment in Fayetteville, N.C. in 1979.
In 1981, Harper was transferred to the Beaumont, Texas,
plant as employee relations manager. Harper moved to Akron in 1983 after he was named
employee relations administrator, a position in the organizational development department.
He serves on the boards of trustees for Malone College in
Canton, the Akron Urban League and Akron's Goodwill Industries.
Harper and his wife, Gerri, have two children. |
